Traffic Report
ACCIDENTS:
CONSTRUCTION UPDATES (sorted by county):
Summit County
The 1-271 exit ramp to Rt. 8 Southbound is now open to motorists. During the next few weeks, motorists may encounter an occasional lan restriction near the ramp due to final project work.
- Starting Monday, September 28, the intersection of Manchester and Wilbeth will be closed for approximately two weeks for reconstruction. A variety of detours will be provided.
- METRO RTA Changes: Most notably there will be a NEW route. The Route 56: Arlington Circulator will pick up passengers at the end of the Route 2 at the Arlington Walmart. The route will circle from the Walmart to the Target and to route 619 and back to the Walmart. METRO is also extending the Route 23 to go to the Stow Court House. Also, the Route 23 will no longer pull in to Sutliff Apartments in Cuyahoga Falls.
- Each direction of I-77 between routes 21 and 303 has a variety of lane restrictions until further notice due to a new construction layout.
- Seasons Road under Route 8 is closed until early September for reconstruction. Suggested detour: Wyoga Lake Road to Steels Corners Road to Hudson Drive.
- Until further notice, the Wilbeth Road exit ramp from I-77 South will be closed week nights from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. Suggested detour is the Archwood Avenue exit from I-77 South to Arlington to Wilbeth.
- Until further notice, Route 8 North has various lane restrictions between Howe Avenue and Graham Road. That stretch of roadway will be down to two lanes from 7 p.m. until 10 p.m. And then from 10 p.m. until 6 a.m. traffic will be reduced to one lane. This is the start of a $6 million project to resurface the roadway.
- I-271 over SR 8 is reduced to one through-lane and one exit-only lane in each direction as part of the SR 8/I-271 reconstruction project. Completion date: summer 2010.
- Until further notice, Route 8 north between Graham Road and Route 303 is down to two lanes for pavement repairs.
- Until further notice, Route 8 under I-271 has a variety of lane restrictions throughout the work week between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m.
- ODOT will be restricting the southbound lanes of I-271 in Boston Township over the Cuyahoga River. Police will be out helping ODOT officials keep traffic moving slowly so they can have a space to unload hundreds of thousands of pounds of steel beams. You could see 10-15 minute delays between 7 a.m. and 3 p.m. daily for the next few weeks.
- I-271 in Boston Township over the Cuyahoga Valley National Park is down to one lane each way daily from 8 a.m. - 3 p.m. until October 2009.
Portage County
- SR 43 in Kent between SR 261 and Main Street is down to one lane (until further notice) as part of a resurfacing project.
- In Brimfield Township, SR 43 between Tallmadge and Saxe Rd. remains closed. Also, SR 43 remains closed between Tallmadge and Dussel and Overlook and Doralee.
Medina County
- The 224 East ramp to I-71 South will be closed for construction. The ramp will reopen on October 30, 2009. Detour signs have been posted -- they follow 224 East to Route 3 North then West on Route 224 then to I-71 South.
- Through October 6, the I-71 Northbound ramp to Route 224 West is closed for construction. Posted detour route is I-71 to east on I-76. Drivers then need to go north on Route 3 then west on I-76. That will get drivers back to 224 West.
- SR 18 between Windfall Rd. and the Medina/Summit County line is down to one lane for construction. Boneta Rd. is closed at SR 18.
- Ryan Road under I-77 is closed (until further notice) for work as part of the I-71 and I-76 construction project.
