The Akron Zips will face Oral Roberts in the 2012 Sears BracketBusters event, taking on the Golden Eagles in Tulsa, Okla., on Saturday, Feb. 18 at 2 p.m. ET.

The game will air live on ESPN or ESPN2. The Zips (14-7, 6-1 MAC) and the Golden Eagles (20-4, 12-0 Summit) will face off for the second-consecutive season.  Akron defeated ORU 84-80 at Rhodes Arena on Jan. 3, 2011.  UA owns a 4-0 record in the series, including a 2-0 road record.

This will be the ninth year for the Zips as a BracketBusters participant (3-5).  Akron defeated Creighton 76-67 at Rhodes Arena last season (Feb. 19).  UA will appear on TV for the second time in the event (at VCU, Feb. 20, 2010).

The 10th annual Sears BracketBusters, a three-day men’s college basketball event pitting potential NCAA Championship hopefuls against each other Feb. 17-19, will feature 13 nationally televised games, on either ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNU or ESPN3. The NCAA hopefuls will be selected from a pool of 142 teams from 16 conferences, the largest pool in the event’s history.
