Indians Activate Hafner from DL, Duncan To Paternity Leave

The Cleveland Indians today announced the club has activated DH TRAVIS HAFNER from the 15-day Disabled List. To allow room on the 25-man Major League roster for Hafner, the Indians have placed OF SHELLEY DUNCAN on the MLB Paternity List.

Hafner was on the 15-day DL from May 24-July 3 after undergoing right knee surgery on May 31 to repair a damaged meniscus in his right knee. So far in 2012, Hafner is hitting .242 (32-132) with 6 doubles, 1 triple, 6 home runs and 23 RBI in 39 games for Cleveland in 2012 (.380OB/.439SLG/.819OPS). At the time of he was placed on the DL he ranked tied for 9th in the American League in walks (26), 23rd in OPS (.819) and 14th in on-base pct (.380). He began a rehab assignment at Triple-A Columbus on June 27 and appeared in 3 games for the Clippers (1-for-10, RBI).

Duncan is batting .221 (34-154) with 7 home runs and 19 RBI over 55 games for Cleveland this season; he has homered in 3 of his last 4 games with 5 RBI during that stretch. Duncan can be on the Paternity List for up to 3 days.
