Traffic & Construction Update

AKRON REGION HIGHWAY WORK

 

PORTAGE COUNTY

Crain Avenue in the City of Kent (until further notice)
SR 43 in the city of Kent will have various daily lane restrictions for intersection improvements. This work is part of a $17.3 million project to improve the intersections of SR 43 and Crain Ave.; SR 43 and Fairchild Ave.; and Crain Ave., N. Water St. and Lake St. This will include the replacement and relocation of the Crain Ave. bridge over the railroad with the western end of the bridge now aligning with the intersection of Fairchild Ave. and SR 43. The eastern end of the bridge will now intersect in a tee alignment with N. Water St. The entire project is scheduled to be complete by December 2012.
 
State Route 5 in Charlestown Township (until further notice)
The following traffic patterns are in place on SR 5 for bridge reconstruction on Rock Springs Rd. over the railroad through late November.
·         SR 5 eastbound to Rock Springs Rd. northbound is closed. The detour is Green Leaf Rd. to Newton Falls Rd.
·         Rock Springs Rd. southbound to SR 5 eastbound is closed. The detour is SR 5 to Booth Rd.
·         SR 5 will have various restrictions two lanes of traffic will be maintained.

STARK COUNTY

 

LORAIN COUNTY

Interstate 90
I-90, at its twin bridge structures over the Black River and Ford Road, is reduced to two narrowed 11’ lane widths of traffic in each direction for bridge deck replacements. The restrictions will remain in place through November 2013. 

Interstate 90
I-90, at its Nagel Road overpass (between State Route 83 and Crocker Road), has narrowed lane widths for work as part of the new interchange construction project. Two lanes of traffic will be maintained at all times during the daytime hours. The project is expected to be complete in September 2013..

Nagel Road
Nagel Road, over Interstate 90 (between Chester Road and Avon Road), is closed as part of the new interchange construction project. Detour is posted. The road is expected to reopen in September 2013.

MEDINA COUNTY

 

SR 261 to I-76  (Tuesday, March 26, 2013) – The State Route 261 to Interstate 76 eastbound entrance ramp in the City of Wadsworth will close Monday, April 1 for rehabilitation work. The detour route for motorists is to continue northeast on SR 261 to State Route 21, south on SR-21 to I-76 east. The ramp is expected to reopen on April 15; however, all work is dependent on weather.This work is part of the $17.7 million project to improve I-76 between State Route 57 and the Summit County line. The project includes resurfacing, improved drainage, and modifications to the interchange ramps. The project carries a completion date of October 2013.

Interstate 76
I-76 eastbound, from just west of State Route 94 to the Summit County line, is reduced to one lane of traffic for a reconstruction project. Motorists are advised to use caution in this area and watch for slower moving traffic as it merges in to the open (left, passing) lane. The project will be complete in September 2013.

SR-94 Ramp to I-76 East
The entrance ramp to I-76 eastbound from State Route 94 is closed until the end of November, 2012. There are two detours for this area: Cars/Light Trucks – SR-94 to State Route 261, east on SR-261 to I-76 east; and Commercial Vehicles/Heavy Trucks – SR-94 to I-76 west, I-76 west to SR-57 south, to I-76 east.

I-76 East to SR-94 - ***UPDATE***
The exit ramp from I-76 eastbound to State Route 94 is NOW OPEN.

CUYAHOGA COUNTY
 
Interstate 90, The I-90 Innerbelt Bridge through downtown Cleveland remains open; however, multiple ramps along the downtown corridor are closed or restricted as crews work to construct a new westbound I-90 Innerbelt Bridge. Visit www.Innerbelt.org for more information.
