OREGON, Ohio (AP) -- Operators of an oil refinery near Toledo say a new $400 million upgrade will allow the plant to produce gasoline more efficiently and go a long way toward solidifying its future.

BP-Husky Refining officials say a new unit at their plant along Lake Erie takes low-octane gasoline made from crude oil and turns it into a higher-grade gas that can be used in cars and trucks.

The new unit took about two years to build and is now fully operational. It will allow production to increase slightly and cuts down on pollution.

Officials tell The Blade newspaper ( http://bit.ly/ZvDnRL ) in Toledo that the upgrade makes the facility more competitive. They also hope it will bring more investments at the plant that now employs 650 full-time workers.
