COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (AP) -- Authorities say a soldier suspected in the strangulation death of his girlfriend will not fight extradition to Colorado to face a murder charge.

Prosecutors said Friday it's not known yet when Sgt. Montrell Lamar Anderson Mayo will return to Colorado Springs from Greenville, N.C., where he surrendered to police Sunday.

The 24-year-old Mayo is from Greenville and is stationed at Fort Carson outside Colorado Springs. He is being held without bail on a warrant accusing him of first-degree murder in the Feb. 14 death of Army Cpl. Kimberly Walker.

It wasn't known if he had an attorney.

Walker was from Cincinnati and was stationed at Fort Riley, Kan. Acquaintances of Mayo told police that Walker was visiting Mayo when they quarreled. She was found dead in a Colorado Springs motel.
