GROVEPORT, Ohio (AP) -- Park officials are trying to figure out what killed hundreds of fish at a pond in a central Ohio park.
The fish were found dead in a pond near Three Creeks Metro Park, about 5 miles southeast of downtown Columbus.
WBNS-TV ( http://bit.ly/Qxv1ai ) reports a parks spokeswoman said testing of the pond showed the cause was not an algae problem. She said a possible explanation is a depleted oxygen supply because of recent hot weather.
Officials said the pond would be closed while workers removed the dead fish. That's expected to happen early this week.
