DAYTON, Ohio (AP) -- A southwest Ohio medical center is notifying 16 veterans that their medical records containing personal information were found at the former home of an employee who is deceased.

The Dayton Daily News ( http://bit.ly/L6huGY ) reports the home's current owner found records from the Dayton Veterans Affairs Medical Center in an attic. The police report says no one at the hospital knew why the records were removed.

Veteran Angelo Arnold of Centerville says he was notified about the problem this week. The 51-year-old says it raises privacy concerns and indicates VA workers were careless with his and other records.

The VA calls it "an unfortunate and isolated event."

The medical center has faced increased scrutiny recently because of allegations of improper conduct by an anesthesia unit employee and improper dental clinic hygiene.
