HAMILTON, Ohio (AP) -- The southwest Ohio city of Hamilton hopes to score big with a major cornhole tournament this weekend.

The JournalNews of Hamilton reports ( http://bit.ly/Mwy5Bn ) officials expect the first Hamilton Cornhole Cup competition to draw enough players and spectators to mean tens of thousands of dollars in economic impact.

The event with the American Cornhole Organization offers a $20,000 purse. Hundreds of participants are expected. While it's an official tour event for top cornhole players, there are also games for local residents who just want to play for fun.

Cornhole is an old game that's long been popular in the Cincinnati area and around Kentucky and Indiana. There's been more organized cornhole play in recent years, but it is popular for casual players who toss beanbags into the holes of slanted platforms.
