WESTERVILLE, Ohio (AP) -- Otterbein University has selected a familiar name as its new head football coach.

Athletic director Dawn Stewart announced Tuesday that Tim Doup has been elevated from an assistant coaching job to take over the head coaching duties. The 44-year-old Doup has served as the team's offensive coordinator for the last nine seasons.

Doup replaces Joe Loth, who resigned after nine seasons to become head coach at Western Connecticut State.

The Cardinals have a 49-42 record over the last nine seasons. The 2008 team made the NCAA Division III playoffs for the first time in school history.
