FAIRMONT, W.Va. (AP) -- West Virginia assistant basketball coach Jerrod Calhoun has been named head coach at nearby Division II Fairmont State.
Calhoun says taking over the Fighting Falcons is "a chance of a lifetime."
Calhoun replaces interim coach Brett Vincent, who went 8-19 this past season. Vincent had replaced Tim Murphy, who was fired before the season began last November.
Calhoun was an assistant coach under WVU coach Bob Huggins last season and served as director of basketball operations the previous four seasons.
A 2004 graduate of Cincinnati, Calhoun also was an assistant coach at NAIA Walsh College.
