Protestors March in Washington for Gun Control

iStockphoto/Thinkstock(WASHINGTON) -- Thousands of people, holding signs with the names of gun violence and messages like "Ban Assault Weapons Now," marched from the U.S. Capitol to the Washington Monument on Saturday for gun control. Among the speakers at the gun control event include Representative Chris Van Hollen (D-MD), Washington D.C. Mayor Vincent Gray, survivors of shootings and residents of Newtown, Conn.Shannon Watts, who founded One Million Moms for Gun Control after the Newtown shooting, was among the speakers on Saturday. Watts said, “I am here for the 26 families who lost the lights of their lives in Newtown, daughters and sons, wives and mothers, grandchildren, sisters and brothers gone in an unfathomable instant.” Copyright 2013 ABC News Radio
