In the wake of the Penn State sex abuse scandal, Summit County Children's Services is encouraging people to report any signs of abuse or neglect, sexual or otherwise.
"It does not have to be specific knowledge, but if you do, absolutely, you need to report, but if you have a suspicion or you have a concern that you'd like to talk over with a social worker, our staff is available," said Intake Director Sushila Moore.
Moore says the more information that is available does make it easier for them to determine if an investigation is warranted, according to state guidelines. The staff tries to make that call within 24 hours of the initial complaint.
Moore says some people just want more information so they will be able to better recognize signs of abuse. She says it's okay to call anonymously.
The 24-hour hotline is 330.434.KIDS
