An Akron man will get a 10 year prison sentence for stealing from a 92 year-old woman.
Summit County prosecutors say 41 year-old Daniel Roy Spiegel of Coventry Street demanded money from the elderly woman in February. He occasionally did odd jobs for her in the past.
The woman refused to give Spiegel money, and prosecutors say then he forced his way into her house and took money from her wallet.
DNA also matched Spiegel to the theft of a 97 year-old man's wallet, which happened after that robbery.
Judge Amy Corrigal Jones sentenced Spiegel after he pleaded guilty to felony aggravated burglary and robbery charges.
Police are trying to find the man who stole a man's cell phone outside a bar in the Merriman Valley.
Akron Police Capt. Dan Zampelli says the suspect asked a 22-year old man who had just left a bar if he had a cell phone. When he said he did not have one, the suspect punched him in the face and went through his pockets.
Zampelli said the suspect is a 5'6", 170 pound black male, 19-20 years old. Police are still investigating.
Akron Police are looking for a suspect in a robbery at a home on Upson St. early Thursday morning.
Police Capt. Dan Zampelli said a man heard a knock at his door around 2 a.m. When he answered it, the suspect pulled a gun and entered the house. He hit the victim with the gun before taking money and a cell phone.
The victim told police he thinks he's seen the suspect in the neighborhood. They're looking for a black male between 25-30 years old, 5'8" to 5'9" tall, and 170 lbs.
Akron Police are looking for the person who held up the manager of a Family Dollar store Wednesday morning.
They say the 25-year-old woman was leaving the store on East South Street to take the previous day's receipts to the bank around 6:30 a.m. She was approached by someone who pulled out a gun and demanded the money.
Detectives are still investigating. The suspect was described as wearing a black hoodie with red markings and a ski mask.
Police say a 54-year-old man was robbed while collecting signatures around an Akron neighborhood Thursday night.
The victim told police the robbery happened near Neptune Avenue and Firestone Boulevard where he was collecting signatures for an individual who was interested in running for city council.
Police say two men approached the man and demanded money. The suspects fled the scene.
Only a vague description of the suspects was released.
Employees at a Bath Township pharmacy were held hostage during a robbery Thursday evening.
Bath Township Police Chief Michael McNeely tells AkronNewsNow.com a pair of suspects robbed the Colonial Pharmacy on North Cleveland-Massillon Road around 6:45 p.m.
Both men took off with the drugs and cash and the employees were released according to police.
Police describe the pair as two white men, one in his mid 30's, the other in his late 20's to early 30's.

DNA evidence helped authorities link two men to a robbery in Green that happened in late March.
The Summit County Sheriff's Office reports Kenneth Simmons, 19, and David Murren III, 19, both of Green, were charged with aggravated robbery in connection with the robbery at Thomas' Drive Thru on South Arlington Road.
Authorities say two masked men robbed two employees at the store and fled with their cell phones and cash.
DNA evidence was taken from the crime scene and sent to the BCI Laboratory in Richfield. The results of the test matched the DNA of an individual in the database.
When deputies searched Murren's residence, they found additional evidence and arrested 18-year-old Brian Rubino of Springfield who was found in possession of hash oil, drug paraphernalia, and currency.
Simmons, Murren, and Rubino were taken to the Summit County Jail.
Police are looking for an Akron man after a woman said he stole her purse during a Friday night struggle.
24-year old Darelle Norwood is facing robbery charges stemming from the incident. He has not been taken into custody.
Police say a 32 year-old woman was visiting friends on Safer Plaza around 9 p.m. Friday night before she was allegedly confronted by Norwood, who asked to use her car. When she refused, he tried to take her purse, dragging her through the parking lot.
APD Lieutenant Rick Edwards says the woman finally let go of her purse and Norwood fled.
The woman sustained some injuries to her neck and face during the struggle.
Police describe Norwood as a black male, standing 5’11” tall and weighing 140 lbs.

Akron police are investigating a robbery that happened Thursday evening.
Police say a man approached a 38-year-old woman at an ATM machine at a FirstMerit Bank on North Main Street and attempted to grab the money from the ATM. The woman told officers she slapped the suspect's hand when he said "I don't want to hurt you, just give me the money."
The suspect ended up fleeing with $120 in cash.
Police describe the suspect as a white male, 20 – 25 years old, 5’09” – 5’11”, 170 – 190 lbs., wearing a white t-shirt, gray sweat pants, with tattoos on his left arm down to the wrist.
Two people have been arrested in connection with the attempted robbery of an elderly Bath Township woman thanks in part to a pair of witnesses.
NewsChannel 5 reports police arrested 25-year old Cameron Huth of Medina and 22-year old Ashley Schaff of Seville for multiple crimes according to authorities .
Police tell the TV station Huth allegedly stole the elderly woman's purse as she was unloading her shopping cart at a retail store. He took off running to Springside Drive were Schaff was waiting in a car.
Police caught up with the pair before they drove off and said they had help from two witnesses. Authorities said one of the witnesses chased Huth on foot after the purse was stolen and the other stood by the purse when Huth threw it on the ground.
