There's much more to High School Football than practice during the week and games on the weekends.
There's work off the field as well.
For example, the Revere High School Football team. 10 members of the Minutemen football team will be volunteering their time at tonight's 'Taste of the NFL' at the Pro Football Hall of Fame in Canton. The event is a fund-raiser for the Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank.
Revere head coach Phil Hein says his football players will be paired with 10 members of the Hall of Fame who will be at the event.
Hein says besides helping the Hall of Famers with their tasks tonight, he hopes his players will have a chance to talk to players like Jack Youngblood, Leroy Kelly, Jim Taylor and others.
Hein says he hopes the event will help his players grow, not only on the football field, but in life.
The High School Football season takes another turn as conference play begins tonight.
In the Suburban League, all eight high schools are in action. Among the games, the Tallmadge Blue Devils play host to the Revere Minutemen.
It was a difficult non-league schedule for Revere. The Minutemen lost to Chagrin Falls, North Royalton and Aurora. Chagrin Falls and Aurora made the State High School Football Playoffs last year and North Royalton won nine games.
Revere head coach Phil Hein says he's looking for his offense to do what they do best tonight, and that's run the football.
Hein says he is not fooled by the 1-2 record that Tallmadge has. Hein says he knows that Joe Vassalotti's team has a lot of talent and will feature a balanced attack on offense between running and passing.
You'll be able to hear tonight's game between Tallmadge and Revere on 1590 WAKR. Kickoff is slated for 7 o'clock.
