Police Arrest Suspect In Gulley Incident

An arrest was made in the stabbing case involving Syracuse University football player Prince-Tyson Gulley.

Syracuse Police Sergeant Gary Bulinski tells AkronNewsNow.com how the alleged incident happened.

"For some reason there was a large disturbance or fight, and during that fight Mr. Gulley was stabbed," he said

The 19-year-old running back was taken to a local hospital after 1a.m. for treatment  the morning of July 29th. after a fight at a on -campus party broke out.

Police say there is no apparent motive for the alleged stabbing. Gulley, an Akron native attended Garfield High School where he was named 2009 City Series Player of the Year.

After an investigation Bulinksi says Syracuse Police made an arrest.

"Police arrested 19-year-old Kivon Davis of Syracuse after a tip led police to him."

Davis was arraigned after his arrest and charged with assault and criminal possession and is currently in the Onondaga County Justice Center.

Sgt. Bulinski says that Gulley, whose injuries were not life threatening is back to the field.

"Apparently he's back to working out and doing some physical exertion, so he's on his way to making a full recovery."

Syracuse's first game is against Wake Forest September 1st. No word from police or team officials whether or not Gulley will suit up for that game.
