Crews kept busy early Tuesday morning containing a chemical leak in Akron.
Employees reported the chlorine gas leak at the Hygenic Corporation in the 1200 block of Home Avenue around 2:30 a.m.
After arriving at the scene, the fire department evacuted the building and requested additional help from a Hazmat team and a Hazmat rescue truck. The EPA was also notified of the incident.
Traffic was blocked as crews worked to cap and stop the leak at 4:16 a.m.
One employee was taken to a local hospital. Their condition is unknown at this time.
A Stow man is accused of a series of robberies this week at businesses in Stow, Cuyahoga Falls and Akron.
Joe Schratz, 40, of Norman Drive in Stow was charged with aggravated robbery and kidnapping in connection with crimes at Speedway, Taco Bell, Sheetz and Steak n' Shake.
Police say Schratz was arrested Tuesday morning after driving through the Steak n' Shake restaurant in the 1600 block of Home Avenue.
He told the clerk he had a gun and demanded money. The clerk closed the drive-thru window and then called police.
Schratz fled the parking lot and was stopped by Cuyahoga Falls Police on State Road where he was taken into custody and booked into the Summit County Jail.
