It took until the last day of the contract between labor and management was set to expire, but there's labor peace at Goodyear.
The Akron-based tiremaker came to a tentative deal with members of the United Steelworkers. The agreement covers more than 8,000 workers at six plants, including Akron's race tire division that builds tires for NASCAR and several other racing series.
USW International Vice President Tom Conway said the agreement "includes economic and non-economic improvements for all union represented Goodyear employees." Conway was the head of the USW's bargaining team.
The previous labor contract was set to expire Friday at midnight. Goodyear workers must still vote to ratify the new agreement.
