Emotions ran high in a Summit County Common Pleas Courtroom Wednesday as a member of a North Hill gang was sentenced for the murder of a Bhutanese immigrant.
Judge Thomas A. Teodosio sentenced Corey Michael Hardison to life in prison with no possibility of parole for 18 years in the death of 37-year-old Karma Tamang. Hardison pleaded guilty to murder and several other charges last month.
The Beacon Journal reports Tamang's widow Bishnu wept as a translator read her prepared statement to her in her native language. Tamang's niece became so emotional during her statement that Teodosio had to call a recess. Hardison also shed tears during victim statements.
He shot Tamang once in the face last July, then prosecutors say he bragged about it to fellow members of his gang
