The Akron Zoo is unveiling their largest expansion project in their 60 year history with the opening of Grizzly Ridge this Saturday.
The Mike & Mary Stark Grizzly Ridge will include grizzly bears, river otters, red wolves, bald eagles, coyotes and a walk-in aviary.
The two grizzly bears making their debut at the zoo were orphaned in the wild after being born in 2011 in Wyoming and brought to the zoo from the Cleveland Metroparks Zoo last month.
A special experience is included in the river otter exhibit (left photo) where kids can slide through the exhibit in a fully enclosed acrylic tube with the otters swimming around them.
Visitors can also check out the new walk-in aviary where they will be surrround by sixty-five Ohio birds as they're suspended 16 feet in the air onto a rope bridge and tree house.
Grizzly Ridge opens to the public on Saturday, July 20th.
