A dump truck driver couldn't make a sharp turn in Akron's Merriman Valley when he lost control of his truck.
But the Beacon Journal reports that driver Dave Crabtree wasn't hurt after coming down the Steels Corners Road hill. The truck ended up on its side in a ravine on Akron-Peninsula Road Saturday morning.
The owner of Crabtree's truck says he was hauling dirt from State Road to a North Portage Path dumpsite.
The newspaper reports that the intersection of Steels Corners and Akron-Peninsula Road has a history of accidents, including a tanker truck accident in 2008 that killed the truck's driver and spilled thousands of gallons of sulfuric acid.
