Get ready to see some big buses in Akron. Metro RTA is getting ready to roll out "Bendybuses."
The Beacon Journal reports the transit authority bought six of the 60-foot articulated buses. They look like two buses connected by an accordion and are similar to the ones used on the Cleveland RTA's HealthLine. The bendybuses can hold more than twice as many people as a standard bus.
Drivers will spend the next two months learning how to drive the longer buses. They'll be used on Metro's busiest routes starting in August.
