Medina City Schools Superintendent Randy Stepp has been placed on paid administrative leave pending an investigation into a district fund kept at the Medina County Schools’ Educational Services Center.
The Medina Gazette reports that Medina County board spokesperson Jeanne Hurt announced that the board of education had made the move in a statement released today.
The administrative leave is described as part of a standard investigatory procedure and is not a disciplinary action according to Hurt.
On Friday, the Medina School Board announced they asked state Auditor Dave Yost to look into a “carryover fund” of district money kept at the ESC. Stepp directed spending out of the fund that did not require oversight from the district’s treasurer or school board.
