A tip has led Akron Police to a new, different suspect, and a reported confession, in the hit-skip accident that injured a five year old boy.
Akron Police say the tip from the CrimeStoppers hotline led them to interview 38 year-old William Wilkes Jr. of North Hawkins Avenue, and police say he admitted involvement in the accident March 15th on Goodhue Drive.
Wilkes was booked into the Summit County Jail on felony hit-skip and suspended license charges.
A man previously arrested in the accident, 48 year-old Shaune Chesney, has been released...and the charges against Chesney have been dismissed. Police say at the time, a witness identified him as the driver.
The five-year-old boy was treated for a broken leg at Akron Children's Hospital.
