The Repository reports the weekend crash that killed a popular Perry Township teacher was the fault of the driver of the truck that ran into him -- after running a stop light.
Canton police say truck driver Walter Lewis of Marietta was behind the wheel of a semi-truck that had just dropped off a load of scrap for a recycling company when it blew through a traffic light around 10:20 Saturday morning at Sherman Church and Faircrest Southwest.
Matthew McLeese, 32, was in his 2003 Honda Accord; the impact was so severe his car went underneath the trailer and wedge into the rear wheels. He was pronounced dead a half-hour later at Aultman Hospital.
No charges have been filed but the investigation continues.
Funeral services for McLeese will be held 11:00 a.m. tomorrow at the Canton Baptist Temple, 515 Whipple Avenue NW. Calling hours are 1 to 3 and 6 to 8 p.m. tonight at the same location.
