Don't be surprised if you see someone going through your recycle bins out at the curb.
The city of Akron calls it a "recycling education spree." Folks from the sanitation department and Summit Akron Solid Waste Management Authority plan to take a peek inside some of those containers to make sure the stuff is all recyclable. If not, you'll get a recycle bag and a note telling you why they're not going to collect your container.
They'll start next week in Highland Square.
Among the items that you can place in the container: paper, cardboard, glass bottles and jars, aluminum cans and milk containers, milk, juice, and other liquid food/beverage containers.
Among the items can CANNOT recycle: Styrofoam, batters, cell phones, computers, paint, light bulbs auto parts, appliances, used oil or oil containers.
