Brandi Tomko will serve 18 months behind bars for posing as a veterinarian, and treating animals that later died.

The Medina County woman was sentenced Friday for convictions on identity fraud, cruelty to animals, and drug possession.

There were ten counts in all Tomko was convicted on. Judge Paul Gallagher handed down the sentence in Summit County Common Pleas Court.

Prosecutors say Tomko posed as a veteranarian at the C&D Animal Hospital, where she wrote prescriptions and performed surgeries without a license.

Tomko is also on probation for three years once she's released from prison.
