Akron police say a woman was attacked by a man she found sitting in the driver's seat of her car Tuesday afternoon.
Police say the woman noticed the man in her car as she walked out of a gas station in the 900 block of East Exchange Street around 1 p.m. The man jumped out, punched the victim in the face and tried to grab her purse. The suspect soon fled with the victim's car keys.
The victim suffered a broken collar bone and had minor injuries to her face and knees.
Police believe the same suspect had taken another woman's purse around 3:00 p.m. at the intersection of Upson Street and Stone Street.
The victim said she was waiting for the bus when the man approached her and asked for the time. As the woman looked at her watch, the suspect grabbed her purse and ran from that location.
The suspect is described as a black male, 17 – 20 years old, 5’07” – 5’10”, 150 lbs., with short black hair and a moustache. He was wearing a black knit hat, a waist length navy blue or black coat, with “Carolina” in white or light blue letters across the back, an emblem on the left chest, two light stripes around the waist, and leather sleeves and blue jeans.
