A six hour standoff involving a suspect and the Akron Police SWAT team has ended peacefully at a house on Allyn Street near the University of Akron campus.

The standoff began around 4 this morning when University of Akron Police were called to quell a disturbance in the area and one of the university police officers was assaulted by a man, who then ran inside the house.

University officials tell AkronNewsNow that the officer wasn't hospitalized or seriously hurt.

The suspect is now in custody in the Summit County Jail, with no further injuries. No furhter information is available at this hour.
