Woman Choked During Akron Robbery

Akron police say a woman was choked during a robbery Friday evening.

An employees at Retro Home Decor on West Market Street told police that a man walked into the store and wanted to sell some spoons around 5:30 p.m. The man left when the woman told him they are not buying any items because the store is going out of business.

The suspect returned a few minutes later, knocked the woman to the ground and started choking her before taking money from a cash box and fleeing the scene.

The victim was treated on scene by paramedics, but she refused to go to a hospital.

The suspect is described as a black male, medium complexioned, 50 – 60 years old, 6’0” – 6’02”, 200 – 220 lbs., partially gray hair and wearing a black coat, possibly leather, a red shirt and dark pants.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Akron Police Department.
