Burglars will take just about anything from homes these days, but why the ashes of a deceased child ?

Akron Police Captain Dan Zampelli says the ashes were taken during the burglary of a home on Safer Place in the city sometime in the past couple of days.

Zampelli tells AkronNewsNow " The victim is 28-years old. Among other items that were stolen from her was a plastic bag that contained the ashes of her small child, who had apparently passed away some time ago. A television you can replace, jewelry you can replace, but obviously this is something very, very close and personal to her and something you can't replace."

He's asking that whoever took the ashes return them. " We're imploring whoever stole these to at least either anonymously or whatever, give them back to the mother. There's no financial value to it, but obviously very personal value to her."
