UPDATE 6:55 PM 2/14/13: University spokesperson Laura Massie tells AkronNewsNow.com that UA police and Akron police made a "thorough room by room, floor by floor search" of the Polsky Building, and that nothing out of the ordinary was found. The "all clear" has been sounded and the building has been secured.
Though classes in the Polsky Building will remain cancelled for the evening, Massie says that students are being allowed back into the building to retrieve their personal belongings.

EARLIER ANN REPORT:
The Polsky Building of the University of Akron has been evacuated after a report of a person inside with a weapon late Thursday afternoon.
A statement on the University of Akron's website says UA police are investigating that report. Akron police say they're assisting the university police force, and Akron police Lt. Rick Edwards tells AkronNewsNow that there was a report of a white male wearing a camouflage jacket inside the building with a weapon.
The University of Akron has texted students and faculty that the building will remain closed through the evening and classes have been cancelled. University spokesperson Laura Massie tells AkronNewsNow that the building was evacuated "out of an abundance of caution". The university's text message says police remain on site and "have not found anything out of the ordinary".
There are no reports of any injuries or other incidents as a result of the report.
