The Super Bowl is one of the biggest party days of the year, and that means local pizza shops will have all hands on deck to make sure people have food for the big game.
Mark Rasicci of Rasicci's Pizza in Akron says his shop, like many others gets swamped with phone calls.
"Sometimes we have to stop taking orders it gets so busy," he says.
"It's pretty overwhelming, but we make sure we keep up as much as we can."
Rasicci says the phone calls from hungry customers start at noon, hours before kickoff.
John Wertz, owner of Fat Boy's Pizza in Norton says it's busy from open to close on Super Sunday.
"It varies from year to year, but we can get up to 150 orders a day or more," he explains.
Wertz says his shop had to order extra tomato sauce and dough for the pizza, but he also said he had to place in some extra orders for chicken wings, which are another Super Bowl favorite.
Karen Evans, the manager of the Marco's Pizza on N. Hawkins Avenue says her resturant will be fully staffed to take all of the orders Super Bowl Sunday.
"It's one of the busiest days of the year," Evans said.
All of the pizza shops say the most-ordered topping on their pie is pepperoni.
While the Super Bowl is a busy time for the pizza shops, other people will be chowing down on some other food items such as buffalo chicken dip, and ribs.
