The City of Akron is saying no to an Army veteran who has been trying to stop the city fro demolishing a home he purchased on Manchester Road to renovate. 57-year old Larry Modic had threatened to kill anyone who tried to seize his home and property.

The Beacon Journal reports the city rejected a request by Modic's attorney Warner Mendenhall, who said he has compiled a list of nearly two dozen organizations and individuals who would volunteer to make repairs to the home.

The newspaper reports that late Friday the city sent a letter to Mendenhall saying the city won't allow any more time to make the needed repairs to meet local building codes.

Modic is now staying at the VA Wade Park Medical Facility.

There's no indication when the city plans to take down the house.
