A tour of the Akron Global Business Accelerator gave a U.S. official some insight on emerging businesses in Akron Friday.
U.S. General Services Administrator Martha Johnson says it was important to hear stories from individuals who are building there business.
"Some really positive and exciting stories and then some ways in which we hope we can do better to help small businesses through the general services administration ," says Johnson.
Johnson says she heard stories from businesses on how they are working to succeed and their concerns are about the current American Jobs Act.
Following the tour, Johnson entered a roundtable discussion with Mayor Don Plusquellic and several small business owners to discuss how the American Jobs Act can help Northeastern Ohio businesses grow.
Johnson says she hopes to talk about the importance of the American Jobs Act.
"It is addressing a number of different problems, a whole portfolio of issues. Both, around how to help the people who are unemployed, how to help the average family that has a payroll but could benefit from a continued payroll tax reduction," says Johnson.
