Ohio Senator Rob Portman claims new free trade agreements the U.S. signed this week with Columbia, Panama and South Korea will create more American jobs, not take them away.

"These are agreements that I've been able to be directly involved with. I know that they will be good for Ohio farmers, workers and service  providers. The agreement will also increase exports," said Portman in a conference call with reporters Thursday

He said that for the past three years the U.S. under the Obama administration, signed no free trade agreements. " These were agreements that were on the shelf. We've now worked on the inventory"

Senator Portman said as a result U.S. firms lost many exporting opportunities. There have been many other agreements that have been entered into by other countries, and this has resulted in the U.S.exporters losing market share. Even with regard to Columbia and Korea that's true," said Portman.
