Officials at Akron's Ritzman Community Learning Center say an 11 year old girl did the right thing when she was approached by a man in a car early Thursday morning.
Ritzman principal Larry Bender says that the student came to him and told him that the car stopped her on Albrecht Avenue, and that the driver asked if her if she wanted a ride.
"The girl decided that this was a stranger, and she took off running away, came straight to the building," Bender tells AkronNewsNow.com. "As she was running away, she got a license number and wrote it down."
Bender says Akron police are looking into the license plate number.
The school has sent phone messages to Ritzman families informing them of what happened.
Bender says the 11 year-old girl did exactly what students are told to do when approached by a stranger.
"We tell our students all the time to always be aware of what's around you and who's around you," Bender says. "We also talk to them about strangers. If a stranger's ever around them and tries to approach them, they're are take off running as fast as they can and scream."
