The North Canton Police Department has issued arrest warrants for two suspects in connection with mail thefts in the city
59-year old Edward L. Dugan and 39-year old Tonya Carpenter of Columbus are each charged with two counts of Identity Fraud and four counts of Theft .
The charges stem from four separate incidents of mail theft from residential mailboxes in the Southwest section of the City on October 22, 2012. Mail was stolen from mailboxes in the 500 block of Morello Street S. W., the 600 block of Furbee Ave. S. W., and in the 1600 block of Westfield Ave. S. W. All four victims had placed outgoing mail in their mailboxes to be picked up by the U. S. Postal Service. Checks were stolen from the mail in two of the cases, and the suspects used information from these checks to access the victim’s accounts.
It is believed the suspects are involved in similar incidents in other areas of Ohio, West Virginia, and Kentucky. The FBI and other law enforcement agencies are also involved with this investigation.
