Akron Man Shot, Killed In Car

An Akron man died early Sunday morning, after being shot while sitting in his vehicle.

The Summit County Medical Examiner's Office reports that the man, who isn't being identified, was sitting in his car on Peerless Avenue in West Akron when he was shot several times.  The man lived not far from where he was parked.

The victim was transported to Akron General Medical Center, where the medical examiner's office says he was pronounced dead at 4:24 on Sunday morning.

The victim's name is not being released by authorities, pending positive identification and notification of relatives.

The Akron Police Department is investigating the fatal shooting.
