The Summit County Sheriff's Office did not have to look far for the suspect who robbed a bank in Coventry Township Tuesday morning.
Sheriff's Inspector Bill Holland says the man entered the FirstMerit Bank on South Arlington Road shortly after it opened Tuesday morning. The suspect told the clerk he had a gun, but one was never seen.
The suspect was able to get away with an undisclosed amount of cash. Holland says the dye pack with the cash exploded, but the suspect still fled in a gold 1990's model Dodge Intrepid northbound on Arlington Road.
Shortly after the incident, officers stopped a vehicle matching the description of the getaway car from the robbery, but the driver took off. That car crashed, and the suspect then tried to carjack another vehicle, but to no avail.
26-year-old Darrell Connell of green was arrested following a short foot chase. He is charged with Aggravated Robbery and Felonious Assault.
The bank robbery remains under investigation.
