Turns out the scary moments at Akron City Hall can all be traced to a man forgetting his "walking stick."
Police tell AkronNewsNow that PVC pipe with duct tape at both ends -- and the word "kaboom" and "nuisance people eliminated" with hash marks -- was no bomb. It was a homemade cane owned by James "Natural" Kaboom -- that's his legal name -- 66, or North Hill. He'd forgotten it at a meeting.
Workers at the city building on South High Street were scared, and thought what they saw was a pipe bomb. Enter the Summit County Bomb Squad, Akron Police Department, Akron Firefighters and even the University of Akron's K-9 dog sniffing around.
Noone was injured and the evacuation of the building was short-lived.
