You can find apps for just about anything these days...including the Akron Zoo.

The Akron Zoo announced today its first ever app, available for iPhone and Android users, which gives visitors direct information about the zoo and allows them to customize their visit.

You can find an interactive map and a section to bookmark the attractions you want to visit including specific animals, food and rides. You can also use the app to find your car once you've decided to head back home.

(Press Release)

The Akron Zoo is inviting people to get more connected via the zoo’s first ever app. The Akron Zoo app is available for iPhone and Android users. The zoo’s app allows visitors to learn more about the zoo and customize their visit before and during their adventure.

Features on either app platform include creating a customized trip that allows people to add the animals, food or rides to a section called My Trip and makes a list of things they want to make sure they don’t miss out on and then allows people to check them off as they experience them. It also includes an interactive map which allows people to see the quickest route to an animal, restroom and more from where they are in the park. The app also allows people to mark where their car is in the parking lot so finding it after their visit is easy. There is also a friend finder, a donate button and a quick and easy way to connect to social media via the app.

The app was designed in partnership with wddonline, which is located in Wadsworth, Ohio.

The Akron Zoo is open 361 days a year. The Akron Zoo hours are 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. and admission is $10 for adults, $8.50 for senior citizens, $7 for children (ages 2-14). Children under two are free and parking is $2. For more information visit www.akronzoo.org or call (330) 375-2550.

Founded in 1953, the Akron Zoo is a non-profit, world conservation Zoo with over 700 animals from around the world. Located just west of Downtown Akron, the Zoo strives to provide a dynamic, financially responsible, guest centered animal experience that is energized by innovation and fun. The Akron Zoo is accredited by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA). With its more than 200 accredited members, AZA is a leader in global wildlife conservation, and your link to helping animals in their native habitats.
