The chairman of Summit County's Republican Party is recovering from a Wednesday crash on Route 8.

Alex Arshinkoff is said to be doing well

"Alex is doing fine, and he's getting some tests run," says fellow Republican and Summit County Board of Elections director Joe Masich, "and as the doctors assess the injuries, him and his wife will be making the decisions as to how to best to resolve those."

Arshinkoff was going back to his Hudson home after a meeting when he crashed on Route 8 near Seasons Road late Wednesday afternoon.

Masich says that he's kept in touch with the Republican Party leader.

"I've spoken with him the day of the accident and (Thursday)," Masich tells AkronNewsNow.com, "and he's saying 'keep the work going at the Board of Elections'."

Masich says Arshinkoff's keeping in touch just as he normally would, calling him "every day, several times a day".
