Akron Police with help from witnesses were able to quickly track down a suspect in Thursday night's shooting death of a 24-year old man in the 700 block of Clifford Avenue.

Derek Edwards of Merton Avenue was shot as he walked down the street on Clifford around 10 pm. He later died at Akron City Hospital of gunshot wounds to the head and neck.

Lieutenant Rick Edwards says a suspect has been charged in Derek Edwards death. Detectives arrested 21-year old Larrence Clay of Whitney Avenue in Akron. He was charged with aggravated murder and booked into the Summit County.

Lieutenant Edwards says detectives are still trying to determine a motive for the shooting.
