Akron Men Sentenced For Drive-Thru Murder

Two 19-year old Akron men were sentenced Thursday for the murder of a 26-year old man last July on Copley Road.

Gevonte Hunter, 19, of Hollywood Avenue, and Alan Lollis, 19, of East Glenwood Avenue in Akron,were sentenced to life in prison for the murder of 26-year-old Salim Suleiman.

Early in the evening of July 19, 2011 Hunter and Suleiman met at Kelly’s Drive-Thru on Copley Road in Akron. Lollis, who was familiar with Suleiman, had set up the meeting. Hunter attempted to rob Suleiman and then shot him in the chest.

On June 14, a jury found Hunter and Lollis guilty of Aggravated Murder with a firearm specification and two counts of Aggravated Robbery with firearm specifications. The jury also found Hunter guilty of one count of Murder.

Hunter and Lollis will be eligible for parole after serving 33 years in prison.
