Akron Woman Pleads Guilty to Attacks

A 37-year old Akron woman has pleaded guilty to attempted murder, felonious assault and assault of an emergency medical worker charges.

Teri Garko was then sentenced to 11 years in prison for a violent crime spree in April of 2011.It all started when Garko walked into the emergency room at Akron General Medical Center. Upset at what she felt was a long delay in being treated, Garko attacked the psychiatric technician who was assigned to check her vital signs. Garko punched and kneed the woman numerous times in the face, chest and spine. She also slammed the victim's head into the floor and ripped a patch of hair and scalp from the woman.

While out on bond for the hospital attack, Garko broke into the home of her ex-boyfriend and stabbed him and his female friend as they slept.

Both victims survived the attack.
