As expected, most voters didn't go to the polls in Tuesday's special election, but those communities facing school levies were heard loud and clear.

One school district in the area had some good news Tuesday evening. The Rootstown Local School District passed their school levy with a 53% vote. The district will be implementing the $4.96 million dollar plan over the next five years.

Portage County voters decided against the 1.25 percent income tax to aid the Field Local Schools, and the one precinct in Portage County overwhelmingly voted no on the Stow-Munroe Falls tax levy.

Summit County voters in Stow-Munroe Falls voted against the $6.57 million operating levy. If passed, it would have generated $6.5 million annually in new funding for the Stow-Munroe Falls schools. In Nordonia Hills, 56% of voters said no to the $6.91 million, 5 year proposed tax levy, but in nearby Macedonia, they voted in favor of a zoning ordinance to allow 32 acres of land on Valley View Road to be changed from a residence district to a buisness office district.

Voters in Medina County decided against the $5.9 operational levy for Wadsworth City Schools, in a close vote, with 54% of the 28 precints deciding against it. The property tax levy was placed on the August ballot with the intention of continuing programming and staffing for students in the district. Despite the "no" vote, the Wadsworth School Board will have to decide about putting it back on the ballot in November.
