An Akron man is dead following a two-vehicle crash on State Route 18 near Hametown Road.
State troopers at the Canton patrol post say Michael Borchert, 37, of Akron, pulled failed to yield from a stop sign and crashed his Ford F-150 into a GMC Sierra driven by Lawrence Turner, 53, causing Turner's vehicle to overturn. Turner was pronounced dead at the scene.
Troopers say it appears that both drivers were wearing safety belts at the time of the crash, which remains under investigation.
The accident forced the closure of State Route 18 in the area for more than an hour around 5:00 p.m.
