Some area public officials and prominent political names will attend the Democratic Party's national convention this September.

The party has named Summit County Democratic Party chairman Wayne Jones, state representatives Vernon Sykes and Kathleen Clyde, and Stow mayor Sara Drew as delegates to the national convention.

The 2012 national Democratic Party convention will be held this year in Charlotte, North Carolina starting September 3.

The four local leaders will join 57 others, in categories including both public officials and at-large selections, as Ohio's representatives at the Democratic National Convention.

Former area congressmember John Boccieri is listed as an at-large alternate.
