Akron Woman Sentenced For Driving Car into Crowd

A woman who drove a car into a crowd last July will be spending some time in prison for her actions.

Summit County Prosecutors announced 24-year-old  Lashawndra Weems will be spending the next five years in prison for driving a car into a crowd injuring six people including two children.

On July 13, Weems and her sister got into a fight with several other women on Donald Street. She got into her car and started to drive away, then turned her car around and sped back,jumping the curb and hitting one of the women and some other onlookers. Although several of the victims were initially hospitalized, they are all recovering.

Weems pleaded guilty to one count of Felonious Assault and three counts of Aggravated Vehicular Assault March 2nd.
